Aaaaah I once again found something I like A LOT and which can be hooked whilst driving, oops I meant waiting at the traffic lights or crawling in slow traffic. Our traffic lights count down the seconds before it switches to red or green so I always know exactly how long I have to hook a round or 2 before the light changes to green.

One would think having lived/traveled/driven cars and scooters in places such as India, Morocco, Nepal, Vietnam, Thailand, Lebanon, Syria, the UAE etc that I have seen the worst that there is to see traffic wise. Possibly yes, but the majority of these places function on some sort of organised chaos, even Cairo does. Here in Penang however, the driving not only reflects the unique slow pace that comes with island living, but also reflects that the majority of drivers are learner drivers. The island is furthermore congested, roads on the outskirts narrow and winding and cars of dubious road-worthiness. It is cheaper to phone the courier-man-on-a-scooter to deliver a document or item somewhere than it is to tackle the traffic and fight for parking to do the same myself. The embarrassing bit is also that I get lost all the time and find myself driving around in circles to overcome one way street surprises. The school-run provides gorgeous views on the 11km narrow coastal road where we pass giant squirrel and spectacle monkeys, amazing ocean and rainforest every day. I love seeing the ocean taking on its various personas from turquoise calmness to stormy grey. I should indeed hook this pouf in tones of blue and green.
