Babette Style Throw

Ooooo Yay!

F i n a l l y   F i n i s h e d!

This throw has been hanging from the hooks since February will you believe it - it is very unlike me since I prefer to finish my projects as quickly as I possibly can.  The squares were in fact finished a few months ago but the idea of assembling the throw bored me to death.  Earlier this week I decided to just jump in and finish it for once and all.  I think it is a true representation of the initial idea and I like the simpler use of colours on a design that is normally hooked in a myriad of colour combinations.  That said, I will also attempt a true Babette sometime in the future and might just go mad on the colours!

Yarn: Vinnis Nikkim
Hook Size: 3,75 mm

Previously blogged about here and here

What are you working on?  I need to focus on finishing the Amanda Perkins designed triangles now and will hopefully showcase another throw soon.

Have a great weekend!

A Hooker not into Swinging and Juggling

Aaack I ran out of yarn. A certain colour called "Stone" that I am using a lot of. So did two shops and an individual supplier. The result is that I am juggling two throws at the same time and am none too happy about it.  I am a one project at a time hooker, I am not into swinging. Tee heee. Yip I prefer to see one project through to the end and enjoy the process of fantasising about the next project (that lip smacking, saliva dribbling anticipation) more than actually starting it whilst still busy with another.

This throw inspired by my bangle as blogged before is about two thirds finished, that means that I need to work my way through another 10-12 skeins of yarn before it can be declared done and dusted. At least I managed to pick up some of the black, orange and blue yarn whilst the stone colour is still on order.

Perhaps running out of yarn was not all that bad since I have drawn up all my postings for Blog Week already woop woop!

I will be able to enjoy Blog Week by sipping coffee whilst blog hopping and savouring all the great posts without a worry in the world!  Last year I planned naught and ended up sucking a posting out of my thumb every day - eeek the pressure was insane.

I hope you will all be participating, it is such fun.
Cheers!

A throw in progress inspired by my beaded bangles

We finally got hooked up to the Internet yesterday!

This is me as seen through the eyes of  The Teen. She used the Sketchbook X app to create this moment of frustration and happiness rolled into one pic.

What am I up to in the land of hooky?

Hooky Inspiration

Two beaded bangles I bought in Dubai many years ago from a South African stall.

The Idea

A throw reflecting these pretty bangles.  I used the amazing doceri app on my iPad to fill in the squares with my chosen colours to get an idea of the end-product.
The design is by Pertinitaco from the Crocheting my Brains out blog. I love that blogtitle so by the way.  Head over and check out her title and masthead!

The Work In Progress

I am using my beloved Vinnis Nikkim Colours,  hand-dyed 100% cotton in colours Stone, Midnight, Orange, Lime, Tangerine and Kingfisher.

Cheers!  I am logging off now as I am about to upgrade to Windows 8 and wanted to do a blog posting before I explore an exciting new operating system. Have a great weekend!
